It's My Life…

It's Knauer Never!

Tomorrow Is Today

Forgive me readers for I have sinned. It has been almost two years since my last post…

Life as we get older seems to move so quickly now. When we say, “Oh, I’ll get to that tomorrow” may turn out to be a month before we get around to doing it. Sometime, if the thing we are putting off is something we don’t like, it could take almost two years! That is the main reason why this posting has taken so long… I haven’t wanted to write it. Let me explain…

Once again, as we get older, not only does time move quickly, but it does terrible things to our bodies. In not paying attention to what has been going into my body and saying, “Oh, I’ll get around to losing weight tomorrow” Tomorrow has become today.

This past weekend I went into a local supermarket called Publix that happens to have a scale in their entryway. It is one of the larger scales that goes up to 300, so I thought I would take a look at what my status was… And not the Facebook kind! And this is what slapped me in the face!

I thought that the scale was broken. I thought that the needle hadn’t moved… I thought that an elephant had placed his foot on the back of the scale while I wasn’t looking… No, the scale was calibrated correctly and the needle had gone past the 300 lb. mark and I was well on the way to breaking it myself!

After the initial shock wore off, I knew that getting on that scale was the way the  universe was telling me to get off my couch and do something. It was more than past time.

I signed up for Weight Watchers immediately… Not ready to go to the meetings yet, just signed up for the online program. I also purchased a Nutri-Bullet(more on that in future posts), so I could start eating more fruits and veggies… Something my body was also lacking.

The biggest step that I am doing that I have never done before is this. Telling people! I want everyone to know what I am going through so I can be held responsible. No hiding my diet in the closet. If I am out to dinner with friends, I want them to know, why I am not getting the biggest thing on the menu or having an excess of alcohol or why I am passing on dessert. I want you my reader to know my struggles as well and in doing so, if you have had to lose weight in the past , can share your stories with me. I look forward to the challenge and I look forward to my health and my longer life with my wife an loved ones.

Just please don’t wait for tomorrow to do things… Whether it is to lose weight, go on a trip, or tell someone you love them…do it today.

As the Billy Joel song goes… Tomorrow is Today
